Player of the Week: Diego Murillo
Diego Murillo earns Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after an explosive offensive stretch
San Luis Obispo native Diego Murillo is making waves once again on the diamond, earning Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after an explosive stretch at the plate and on the bases.
The SLO High and Cuesta College product delivered an impressive 11 hits in 20 at-bats, tallying 7 stolen bases, 5 RBI, and 6 runs scored to help fuel the Blues’ offense. His ability to set the tone at the top of the lineup and pressure opposing defenses with his speed has become a defining feature of his game.
Baseball runs deep in the Murillo family. Diego is carrying on the tradition set by his two older brothers, David and Marco, who both suited up for the Blues in past seasons. Now, with his own performance cementing him as a cornerstone of the 2025 squad, Diego is adding his own chapter to the family legacy.
For local fans, Murillo’s achievements are especially meaningful. From his days starring at SLO High to refining his craft at Cuesta College, his journey is one the community has been able to watch and celebrate every step of the way.
With his second Athlete of the Week award in hand and plenty of season still ahead, Murillo continues to shine as both a hometown favorite and a key contributor to the Blues’ pursuit of another memorable summer.
